The Social Fitness Model is a research-based hands-on coaching model of behavior change developed by Dr. Lynne Henderson.
Our Corporate Engagement and Education Program incorporate aspects of the Social Fitness Model.
Social Fitness Model is a state of physiological, behavioral, emotional, and mental conditioning. Just as physical fitness is composed of well-developed muscles and athletic skills, social fitness is composed of well-developed behavioral habits and social and cognitive skills. Developing and maintaining social fitness is achievable through regular workouts and the use of research-based, targeted skills training.
In HIP’s Education Program each student is encouraged to create his or her own unique goals for developing the aspect of heroism which matters most to them, such as standing up and speaking out in the face of peer pressure, or countering the tendency to be passive in groups and not getting help when someone is being bullied.
In HIP’s Corporate Engagement Program, social fitness training is used to facilitate courageous conversations regarding ethical and moral lapses and corporate bullying, and to encourage a level of comfort with taking action on behalf of others or in defense of a moral cause, without expectation of personal gain.
